Caregiver LMIA
For employers hiring foreign caregivers — home child care providers and home support workers — through the regular Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Note: the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots (direct PR pathway) are currently paused.
Eligibility
Employer must be a Canadian individual or family with a genuine need for caregiver services. The position must be a full-time, in-home role with specific care duties.
Wage & Working Conditions
Caregiver wages must meet the provincial prevailing wage for NOC 44100 (Home child care providers) or NOC 44101 (Home support workers). Employers must also provide reasonable accommodations and time off.
Path to Permanent Residence
Until new pilots launch, caregivers can pursue PR through Express Entry CEC (if their Canadian work experience qualifies under TEER classifications), Provincial Nominee Programs, or wait for new caregiver streams expected in 2026.
