Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)
A Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is for foreign nationals who are inadmissible to Canada (due to criminality, medical inadmissibility, or other grounds) but have compelling reasons to enter Canada despite that inadmissibility.
Who Needs a TRP
Common scenarios:

- ● Business meetings or conferences in Canada despite inadmissibility
- ● Medical treatment unavailable in your home country

Compelling Reasons Standard
TRPs are discretionary. The officer weighs your reason for entry against the risk you pose to Canada. The need must clearly outweigh the inadmissibility.
Validity & Renewals
TRPs are issued for a specific duration (often the length of your trip, up to 3 years). They can be renewed if circumstances justify continued entry.
