BC PNP 2026: Complete Guide to the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program
Everything you need to know about the BC Provincial Nominee Program in 2026 — Skills Immigration, Entrepreneur Immigration, Express Entry BC, eligible occupations, registration scores, and 2026 priority occupation lists.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is one of the most popular pathways to Canadian permanent residence — particularly for candidates already living, working, or studying in BC. In 2026, the program continues to operate under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) with periodic targeted invitations for priority occupations.
The two main BC PNP categories
1. Skills Immigration
This is the primary pathway for skilled workers and international graduates. It has five streams:
- Skilled Worker — for foreign workers with at least 2 years of relevant work experience and a job offer from a BC employer in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- International Graduate — for recent graduates from a Canadian post-secondary institution with a BC job offer in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 role.
- International Post-Graduate — for graduates with a Master’s or PhD in natural, applied, or health sciences from an eligible BC institution. No job offer required.
- Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS) — for candidates working in tourism/hospitality, long-haul trucking, or food processing in NOC TEER 4 or 5.
- Health Authority — for health professionals working at a BC public health authority.
2. Entrepreneur Immigration
For business owners and senior managers willing to invest in BC and create jobs. Three streams: Base Category (minimum $600K net worth + $200K investment), Regional Pilot, and Strategic Projects.
How the SIRS scoring works
Skills Immigration uses a points-based registration system out of 200 points. Points come from:
- Economic factors (up to 120) — job offer wage, NOC TEER level, regional location of employer
- Human capital factors (up to 80) — work experience, education, language
Higher SIRS scores get invited to apply in periodic draws. Tech occupations and healthcare roles consistently see the lowest cutoffs.
BC PNP Tech draws
BC continues to run dedicated Tech draws targeting 35 priority tech occupations, including:
- Software engineers and designers (NOC 21231)
- Computer systems developers and programmers (NOC 21230)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 21223)
- Web designers (NOC 21233)
- Information systems specialists (NOC 21222)
- Cybersecurity specialists (NOC 21220)
Tech roles require only a 12-month job offer (instead of the standard indeterminate offer).
Healthcare priority draws
Healthcare draws have grown significantly. Eligible occupations include:
- Registered nurses (NOC 31301)
- Nurse practitioners (NOC 31302)
- Medical laboratory technologists (NOC 32120)
- Pharmacy technicians (NOC 32124)
- Physicians (multiple NOCs)
- Healthcare aides and similar TEER 4 roles in some health authority streams
Express Entry BC
If you’re already in the federal Express Entry pool, BC has Express Entry-aligned streams that add 600 CRS points when nominated. Aligned streams:
- Skilled Worker (EE)
- International Graduate (EE)
- International Post-Graduate (EE)
- Healthcare (EE)
2026 processing times
- Provincial nomination decision: 3–5 months after invitation
- Federal PR application: 6 months (EE-aligned) or 11–18 months (paper-based, non-EE)
- Total from registration to PR: typically 12–18 months
Bottom line
If you have a BC job offer (or recent Canadian education + employment), BC PNP is one of the most reliable PR pathways. Tech and healthcare occupations move fastest, and Express Entry-aligned streams shorten total processing time significantly.
